In early 2012 I decided that H needed some publicity. But how? I thought about it and decided the ideal medium would be film. I would do the script; I knew how to create suspense, and this would be an ideal showcase. Actors was way beyond me and my wallet but a cartoon….? I found a young man recently out of Art College who had studied cartoon making and had set up on his own to make his way in life. My kind of man.
We met, I showed him what I wanted, we talked through it and he went away and did his thing.
Unfortunately, the end result bore no relationship to H, was the opposite of what I wanted, had nothing we had agreed on and, to finish it off, the suspense was comedic.
It was my fault entirely and I should have known better. I should have been more involved. We agreed a deal for the work done. He had learned from the experience and so had I.
I couldn’t find anyone else to do the job at a price I could afford and so my epic cartoon never saw the light of day.
So, this is Surprise.
A David Jaundrell Production (which I will deny if cornered)
