H – The Ultimate Betrayal

DRAFT FILM SCRIPT

When I finished writing the H books I had a wonderful idea. If I wrote a film script and sold it, then the books would sell in vast numbers. Vice versa if the books sold in vast numbers, then I could sell the film script. Perhaps you noticed the flaw in my grand plan? It bordered on fantasy. How the hell do you write a film script? Especially for me as I don’t ‘see’ things. I have no idea how to describe the interior of a room for example. Not a clue. But I can put people in that room and give you a good story.
So I wrote a script and paid someone in the USA to vet it until he thought it was good enough to offer it around. There is a saying ‘a fool and his money…’
I sent it to Agents in Hollywood (The UK refused to look at it) and I got nowhere. And then two Producers very kindly offered me advice.
Sean Cunningham read it but it wasn’t right. He helped me understand the ‘Hollywood film formula’, personified in ‘Die Hard’. He also gave me some tips and suggested two books and also the kind encouragement’ Do all of this and you’ll be a star by next week’.
George Zakk also helped me and was gracious enough to talk to me on the phone. He had the script for assessment, but it wasn’t good enough and they suggested changes. I did the changes but it then went to another assessor who didn’t like it (thanks pal) but that was the end of that.

However, I learned a lot about the ‘Hollywood film formula’……

Ah well
